Built by Dispatchers. Backed by Purpose.
The story behind The Alarm Room—why it started, who it serves, and how we’re raising the bar for public safety communication professionals everywhere.
Empowering Public Safety Dispatchers. Strengthening Fire & EMS Response.
The Alarm Room is a platform dedicated to supporting public safety dispatchers—those who serve as the central hub for Police, Fire, and EMS operations—while placing a special emphasis on enhancing the critical connection between dispatchers and Fire/EMS agencies.
We recognize that dispatchers are more than voices on the radio. You are incident managers, crisis navigators, and essential lifelines for responders in the field. Whether you’re coordinating fire units during a structure fire, managing EMS resources during a multi-car pileup, or supporting law enforcement during high-risk calls, your role is indispensable.
Our mission is to provide meaningful resources, foster professional growth, and strengthen the relationships between Dispatchers, Fire and EMS personnel, department leadership, IT professionals, and others across the public safety landscape.
Through a commitment to education, collaboration, and resilience, The Alarm Room aims to build a more connected and effective emergency response network—where dispatchers are seen, heard, and empowered.
Meet the Founder
I’m Ted Adams, and I launched The Alarm Room after more than 30 years in public safety—beginning as a Volunteer Firefighter at 16, serving for two decades as an EMS Operations Supervisor, and spending 10 years as a 911 Fire Department Dispatcher.
Over the years, I’ve seen how vital dispatchers are to every part of emergency response—and how often they’re overlooked, under-resourced, or excluded from the larger fire service conversation. I created The Alarm Room to change that.
This platform is about giving Dispatchers the tools, insights, and sense of connection they need to thrive—especially when working closely with Fire and EMS teams. Whether you’re a new call-taker, a seasoned CTO, or a communications center supervisor, this space is for you.

Join the Movement
The Alarm Room exists for one reason: to uplift, unite, and equip the unseen heroes of public safety communications.
This isn’t just a resource hub—it’s a call to action. A place for Dispatchers and their allies to find clarity, community, and the tools to lead change in a profession that too often operates in the shadows.
Because you’re not invisible here. You’re essential.
